What Graphics Card Does the PS5 Have?

The PS5 is the newer addition to Sony’s revered PlayStation lineup. It is robust, provides high FPS gaming, and is well suited to compete with some of the top gaming PCs out there. But what graphics card does the PS5 have that enables it to do so

The answer is integrated RDNA 2.0 graphics.

What Graphics Card Does the PS5 Have?

The PS5 runs on integrated RDNA 2.0 graphics. This is better than all the integrated graphics card PCs have. In fact, it takes on the likes of RTX 2060, all the way up to RTX 2080 in terms of providing 120 fps on 4K gaming. I highly recommend this console as compared to the PCs for its fluidity of it.

An Integrated Chip That Does Wonders

Most gamers avoid integrated chips because they are less efficient in providing max fps or better 3D rendering. Heck, some of them are not suited for gaming at all.

But it’s the PS5 that we’re talking about. The word integration gets a new meaning here altogether. It means the graphics card cannot be upgraded as it comes stuck in one piece. No alternative whatsoever.

However, it is well worth mentioning here that this card is optimized for the PS5 and so are the games. This makes the gaming experience all the while better than many PCs with the likes of Nvidia RTX 2070 or the AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT.

4K Gaming

On a PS5 card with an output of 9.2 TFLOPs and a better rendering, you could easily go for 4K games at 120 fps. That’s comparable to the performance of AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT, which has an output of 9.5 TFLOPs but fails to provide decent fps on 4K Gaming I’d definitely not recommend it for that but at 1440p, it does not bother.

Call it the magic of ray tracing of the PS5 or whatever, this is its clear edge over PCs running the mentioned GPUs.

The Downside Of Game Optimization

While a lot could be said about the benefits of game/title optimization for the PS5, it has its fair share of downsides. The one that stands prominently is the difference in running capacities of different titles.

Let me explain.

Consider you’ve bought a game that runs at 120 fps on 4K but at the same time, PS5 gives out the same fps but on 1080p or even 720p.

It’s not something you could blame the PS5 for, but the game developers. They all have different strategies for optimizing the game of the console. One developer could optimize it more based on the complexity of the game while the other could not do the same because of many restrictions. There are many factors at play, mind you.

With that, the fps you get with a game is fixed. It’s not like you could go to the options and change the settings or tweak the hardware of the console to get it working round the clock with much greater power. You simply can’t do that. So, fairly enough, you’re stuck with the fps of a game on a console such as PS5.

At the same time, it is well worth mentioning that the same experience might not be as fluid on a PC as it is on the PS5. For example, 4K 30 fps feels different on PS5 but if you use the same settings on a PC, you might not want to play the game in the first place. In that case, your target will always be 60 fps to get to the bare minimum fluidity of games played on Playstation 5.

Is PS5 Better Than RTX 3070?

The PS5 has enough power to beat the likes of RTX 2060 or even 2070 in the NVIDIA regime and Radeon RX 5700 XT in the AMD lineup. However, it isn’t powerful enough to go all the way up to the RTX 3070. This is where the console loses its edge. The RTX 3070 provides not only far greater fps on 4K on some games, but it is also power efficient.

Is RTX 2080 Better Than PS5?

This is the gray area we can discuss or compare. The RTX 2080 is almost similar to the performance of the PS5. Both can run 4K games at higher fps. The PS5 takes up to 120 fps while the RTX 2080 racks up more than 80 fps, based on other factors such as RAM capacity and CPU acceleration.

What graphics card is the PS5 equivalent to?

Playstation 5 has a beefy graphics card known as AMD Radeon RDNA 2 which is roughly equivalent to RTX 2070. It has a whopping 10.28 TeraFlops and generates phenomenal results with a stable 60 Frames output in new Gen gaming titles.

Does PS5 have RTX?

Playstation 5 easily supports RayTracing due to its Hardware Accelerated Ray Tracing attribute which is why games on PS5 look extremely gorgeous with mouthwatering colors.

Will the PS5 have 120 fps?

The new generation of PlayStation consoles is all about heavy-duty gaming with massive frame rates ranging up to 120 Frames because it is armed with a robust AMD Radeon RDNA 2 technology and Zen 2 Octa processor with 3.5Ghz clock speeds.
